How It Will All Work
Let’s do a quick rundown of how this event will work.
The Summit will run online from May 17 - May 19, 2023. Each day will feature panel discussions, speaker presentations, workshopping and breakout sessions, virtual vendor booths, and more. We're anticipating ~3,500 attendees.
Panel Discussions will feature panelists focused on a specific topic. Each panelist will provide a 5-6 minute pre-recorded video following a structure provided by Crispina, and then participate onscreen in a live moderated conversation.
Speaker Presentations will feature a 15-22 minute pre-recorded video with a live chat running alongside. Each speaker will provide a 15-22 minute pre-recorded video, and are asked to "attend" their presentation time live and remain for the full hour to interact with attendees in the chatbox. There is no video component to the live chat, so attendance in pjs is just fine!
All presenters will have the opportunity to host a virtual Vendor Booth during specific time slots each day. The format is similar to going live on Facebook or Instagram directly with our enthusiastic and inspired attendees. Our goal is that these booths deliver sales and revenue directly to you!
To extend the experience, we'll have a Summit Space in our Stitcherhood Community where all attendees and presenters can keep the learning, networking, and friendships going. If attendees have good questions while your presentation is going on, you’ll have the option to hop into this space for a bit of an encore and to connect with attendees and other presenters.
Leading up to the Summit, from April 22 (Earth Day) to May 17, we’ll have four weeks of Promotion. You’ll be provided with email swipe copy, social media swipe copy, and social media graphics, and a suggested posting/sending schedule to make promo as easy as possible. You'll get an affiliate code and our registration system will keep track of your referrals.
During the promotion phase and while the summit is running, we’ll also be promoting the Golden Thread Success Kit. This deluxe package - which includes 90 days of access to all the Summit recordings and many more great benefits - will provide immense value to our attendees (and even those unable to attend), and also gives you an opportunity to earn affiliate commissions. For every person that registers using your affiliate code who goes on to purchase the Golden Thread Success Kit (at any time between registration opening April 22 and the close of the Summit on May 19), you will earn a 40% commission on that sale.
As the Summit draws to a close, we know all of us - attendees and presenters will have new knowledge, connections, and friendships to help them sustain their world-saving work as textile upcycling entrepreneurs.
What We'll Need From You
So this all sounds great, but what kind of work does it require of you?
This is an outline of everything we'll ask of you, but don't worry about keeping track of it all. Sarah is your presenter concierge, and will help you every step of the way; you can reach her at sarah@ragstoriches.eco.
1. Basic Information & Speaker Agreement (ASAP)
The first thing we'll need is some basic information from you. We'll also ask you to sign a speaker agreement that outlines what we're asking of you and what we're providing to you. Once you give us the thumbs up that you’re in, we'll send links to get you started.
2. Presentation Slot Scheduled (ASAP)
The next thing we’ll need is to determine your presentation time, topic, and format (panel discussion or presentation).
You'll do this by scheduling a call with Crispina in which she'll get to know you, your business, how your experience can best be shared with Summit attendees, and your preferences for participating. Keep in mind:
- Panelists will need to be available during their time slot to appear onscreen for a live, moderated discussion.
- Speakers will need to be available during their time slot to participate in a live chat to answer questions and connect with attendees. Remember, there is no video component to the live chat, so attendance in pjs is just fine!
All panel discussions and speaker presentations will be recorded and included in the Golden Thread Success Kit.
3. Contributions for the Golden Thread Success Kit (Due by 4/26/23) Optional
Next, we'll ask you to contribute a resource for the Golden Thread Success Kit!
Contributions for the Golden Thread Success Kit are completely optional, but should be higher value resources or experiences. They can even be a real, tangible product - the first 100 folks who purchase the Golden Thread Success Kit will receive a Wow Box, so you may wish to include a small item for just those first 100 people. By contributing a resource, you'll increase your commission rate to 50% on all your referrals.
Your contribution could include:
- A downloadable pattern or tutorial (could be on something as simple as directions on how best to launder your upcycled textile products)
- Access to a recorded webinar, video, or podcast episode
- A free month in your membership/patreon community
- First dibs/early access to your next shop drop
- Entry in an exclusive drawing of one of your items
- Access to a tutorial, webinar, or class (live or recorded)
- Access to a special zoom session (hosted by you) the week following the summit
- A free product - think small change purse, luggage tag, or potholder or patch
- A sewing kit
- A signed copy of your book (recipient to pay shipping)
- A branded sticker, patch, or other small eco-friendly item
We'll need information/items no later than 4/26/23.
Any tangible items must arrive to Crispina no later than 4/26 for inclusion in the Wow Boxes.
4. Presentation (Due 4/26/23)
The next thing we'll need from you is your presentation!
- Panelists: This is a 5-6 minute pre-recorded video. Crispina will provide the topic and format to make it easy. We're aiming for friendly and casual, not perfect and structured. We want our attendees to learn something great while having fun in the process.
- Speakers: This is a 15-22 minute pre-recorded video on a topic assigned by Crispina with more leeway on format/structure. We ask that you design your presentation so attendees walk away feeling like they've really learned something about your business, process, mindset, etc.
You'll get detailed instructions and support to get your presentation recorded and submitted on time.
5. Promotion
The next thing we'll need is for you to promote the Summit!
We'll ask you to reach out to email list and to your most active social media platform during the promotion period, beginning 4/22/23 (Earth Day!). You can choose what kind of outreach works best for you, but we'll provide graphics, swipe copy, and support to make this easy.
You’ll want to include your affiliate link in all your promotions to earn a 40% commission from any Golden Thread Success Kit sales (50% if you've contributed a resource to the Kit).
6. Live Participation
The last thing we'll ask is for your participation the week of the event!
Since you'll already have done the work of creating your presentation, you'll be able to sit back and relax for the most part! All I ask is that you participate during your presentation slot and interact in the Stitcherhood Summit Space throughout the week to help attendees stay excited and engaged.
While you are not required to attend the events of other speakers, it’s highly encouraged! We’ll be able to get some great discussions going about the topics being presented.
