Chrysalis Building

As a clothing up-cycler it is sooo easy to get distracted by the next super cool thrifting find, design idea or collaboration opportunity.

Am I right?

January is my time to build a chrysalis, a time to go inside and weigh all the ideas and options that will bring out the wings I desire.

Today is the day you can begin to change your path and become that BeaUTiFuL Butterfly.

As we enter the third week of this brand new year, the goals and aspirations we were oh-so-excited about just a couple weeks ago might already be taking a back seat to all our daily demands.  Have you ever considered taking the whole month of January to nail down your deepest desires and formulate a plan to work toward them?

Here is an outline of what helps me:

  • Acknowledge accomplishments of 2021. Go back through a planner and camera roll documenting at least one accomplishment per month.
  • ‘Brain dump’ goals, aspirations and desires for 2022
  • Refine and prioritize ‘Brain Dump’
  • Pick a single word that will help focus on priorities for the next 12 month stretch
  • Make a Vision Board

It is not too late to put this practice in place for 2022, and I will tell you all about that too, but first…

You know what do Oprah, Ellen Degeneres, Beyonce, Steve Harvey, and Lilly Singh have in common (other than their fame and fortune)?

They are outspoken advocates for Vision Boarding, which means to me that this path work.

When Oprah made her first Vision Board she said: “I got a board put Barack Obama’s picture on it, and I put a picture of my dress I wanted to wear to the inauguration.”  That was in 2008, she has been vision boarding ever since – the rest is history…

Ellen talked about her vision to be on the cover of O Magazine, and she put that dream on her vision board…  ANDDDDD.. There she was on the second issue.

Beyonce uses the practice and positions her current Vision Board  “over in the corner somewhere. Just so it’s in the back of my mind.”

Steve Harvey says, “If you can see it, it can become a reality. There is a magic that comes with vision boards and there is a magic that comes with writing things down.” That kinda says it all.

Lilly Singh says that she has achieved all the goals she has put on her vision boards over the years.

And you want to know what?  I have too.

THAT is why I am so passionate about the practice and encourage you to give it a try.  I am leading a hands-on get-it-done kind of workshop tomorrow, on Martin Luther King Day at 3:30pm ET.  In honor of the greatest visionary of our time, take the time you need to make your next 12 months just the way you desire.

YOU can experience the astonishing power of vision boards and the life-changing impact it can have on your life. Register now and then take a minute to share how will you feel when you attain your aspirations in 2022 in the comments.

Here’s to your Beautiful 2022 Butterfly ~
