Christi Johnson – Mystical Stitches

Demin Recycling

By Crispina ffrench

Christi Johnson’s Mystical Stitches is a gorgeous book that clearly explains just how to embroider an entire library of stitches.  The first part of the book has detailed instructions with illustrations showing needle placement paired with simple words that guide even the very beginners among us.

Moving through the book brings us to cross cultural, historic references with interesting meanings associated with the motifs taught in the earlier pages.

Not only is Christi’s book a very well thought-through teaching tool, it is beautiful with photographed examples of each stitch and motif on every page.

Christi is not only an author, she is also a creative textile upcycler in her own right.  Richly embellished garments are for sale in her shop as well as learning opportunities including kits and online classes. AND she hosts a weekly podcast called Stitch Wish Radio

You can tune in to Stitch Wish Radio and hear our conversation.  It airs on Monday September 27th.
