If you love old-timey music, camping, and fresh air, you cannot miss the 8th annual Oldtone Roots Music Festival at Cool Whisper Farm! Nestled among the gorgeous rolling hills of rural N. Hillsdale, New York, the family farm owned by Matt and Lisa Schober couldn’t be a more perfect spot for this 4-day camping festival devoted to American Roots music.

What better way to connect with each other and the planet than dancing the weekend away to Bluegrass, Cajun, Stringband, Ragtime, Jazz, traditional mountain fiddling, and more? Throw in workshops, family activities to entertain the kids between sets, and the kind of community camping vibes (jamming encouraged!!) that dreams are made of, and we’ve got ourselves heaven on a hilltop!

That’s exactly the feel-good experience that Oldtone Roots Music Festival has cultivated for nearly a decade. Founded in 2015 by Jim Wright, Matt Downing, and Kip Beacco as a day-long event in Wassaic, NY, Oldtone moved to its current venue the following year and has grown into the 4-day camping festival that it is today. The production crew and dedicated volunteers provide an atmosphere of mutual consideration, inclusivity, accessibility, and respect that garners rave reviews from attendees and musicians alike!

Rags to Riches Textile Upcycling Podcast with Crispina ffrench is proud to boast the sponsorship of Oldtone Roots Music Festival. These folks share her commitment to creating meaningful experiences that bring us together as a community of Earth. They are dedicated to supporting local businesses and are proud to host conscientious vendors of craft beer, good food, vintage items, and handmade products. Don’t be surprised if your favorite festie vendor pops up on the podcast one day, talking upcycling and sustainability with Crispina!

Plus, let’s be real. The musical stylings of Kip and Matt, two of Oldtone’s founders, are simply the best. Their band, The Lucky 5, not only performs regularly at the festival, they’re also responsible for the rad soundtrack you enjoy each time you tune in to Rags to Riches! If you like what you’ve heard so far, we encourage you to check them out (don’t forget to tell them Crispina sent you) on Insta, YouTube, and Facebook – and of course, at this year’s Oldtone Handmade Music Fest in September!

Save the dates for this year’s festival, taking place 9/7/23 through 9/10/23 at Cool Whisper Farm in N. Hillsdale, NY. Don’t forget to subscribe to the Oldtone Roots Music Festival email list (on their website home page) for updates on ticket availability, lineup, and more as details become available. You can also follow along on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram so that you don’t miss a single measure. We’ll see you there!
